Picnic Lunch

This didn't go as sun shine-y and rosy as I'd planned. Zoe fell in at the edge of the pond, while trying to feed the ducks sushi.I brought her extra clothes, but not extra underwear, which was apparently a big deal. On the way home she was kind of grouchy. :P

Asian Market

On Tuesday Reese was home sick from school, only she wasn't actually sick. (That's a different story though!) There is a new Asian market that opened up near our house a few months back. I've been itching to go, and take the children. We have a few Asian markets in the city, and while I've always intended to check one out, I don't tend to make much effort to get to places that aren't in our neighbourhood.
Anyway, the children LOVED the market. They had so much fun picking out new food. I don't think any of us have ever had such a fun time grocery shopping. The kids packed the bags and helped carry them to the car too- bonus! Unfortunately, many of the new fruits were a disappointment, but I'm glad they tried them. We also accidentally purchased prawn flavoured cracker sticks- we all gagged, and Zoe spit milk all over the cupboards. Ah, memories.

Yesterday evening we went for a walk on the trail near our house. The girls were having a lot of fun- until they got wet.  Reese didn't bring a hat, but Zoe offered hers when her head got cold.  And when Reese's feet were soaked, Zoe offered to trade her boots. That girl is a doll sometimes. ♥

A sunflare rainbow for my girls! ♥

Yes, this is how my girl dresses to go out in the woods! I asked her to put legwarmers on over her tights, and she did- in style, apparently.
We are considering moving this Spring/Summer, but after waiting eight years for this first trail to develop,(it was on the list of promises when we moved into our home), it is hard to imagine not having trails nearby. My list of must-haves for our next home is growing excessively long!

A Celebration of Reese's 9th

Today my not-so-little girl turned 9. We celebrated this weekend with an awesome sleepover birthday party. She had four friends sleepover, we had a homemade ice cream cake (DQ has nothing on me! ;), pizza and crazy bread, a party at Claire's (which rocked!), and a movie + Dortitos (mmm). We finished off the morning with Dave making Belgian waffles+whipped cream+fruit+chocolate chips. What nine year old wouldn't be happy with that?! I made mini ice cream cupcakes with my cake pop maker for Reese's classmates. AND my gift?! My girl did this really great photo shoot for me. ♥

Not much is new here. Our Canadian winter is going on excessively long. I kind of thought I should post something for my sad little blog anyway though. Some picture randoms of my girls...

Project "Whenever I Feel Like It"

On January 2nd of this year I decided I would do a 365 Flickr project. I had already taken a photo on the 1st so I was good to go. But as time went on, it became a chore. I didn't feel inspired or got busy with something else. The Project was not living up to what I wanted it to be. I know some people do the project with an iphone or whatever, but for ME that is not what the project was about. It's not so much about dedication and commitment anymore because I've already done that project once, pretty successfully, so I feel like I accomplished that goal. For me, this project was about challenging myself to find new subjects, to look at things in a different light, and to challenge my skills. When it becomes simply about taking A picture, it is no longer the project for me. So I quit my Flickr project. I took no pictures today because it would have been forced. And now I am starting a NEW Flickr project to expand my skills and it will be called "Project Whenever I Feel Like It." Hmph.
