The Tree

We almost didn't get it out by December 1st. Dave went out that day to pull it from the storage unit. There are still no Christmas lights on our house. Dave insists that they still go up, but I told him not to bother. It is just one more thing to put up and one more thing that needs to be taken down before we move. There is already too much to do. We got the tree up though!

Crazy Hat

We made hats yesterday for Crazy Hat Day at school. By "made," I mean bought, and glued a bunch of stuff on them with hot glue. ;) Reese said she'd get her picture taken later....Later never happened so here is Zoe's...

Gingerbread House

Last week I made my first ever Gingerbread House! I have been wanting a mold for a long time, but the one I had been eying was pricey. I wasn't sure how sturdy the house would be either so I hesitated to pay a lot for one. I found a silicone pan at Dollarama this year for $3. I scooped it up and gave it a try. It worked perfectly! I was so excited. But the girls were even more excited when they came home to a large array of Bulk Barn treats to decorate the house with. I look forward to using this pan year after year. I have a hideous amount of "kitchen stuff" and I sometimes think to myself "do I really need this junk?" because some of it I so rarely use, but this one will be worth the little space it takes up.

Laura is on Vacation!

After a busy Fall, I have decided to give myself a "vacation." This means no pay, doing lots and lots of laundry, cooking, cleaning, and packing, packing, packing....Oh, and Christmas shopping. I also will be taking some time to catch up on photographing my children. We went out after school tonight to take photos for the teachers' cards. (I'm leaving Reese's out of this, just because it has the teacher's name on it.) This is NOT Zoe's teacher's actual name, in case anyone was wondering. ;)

A Few Pics For My Mom and Dad

It's been a rainy October. My sister in law and I managed to gather our four up for some photos last weekend. It was wet, but at least it didn't rain for these.

Long Weekend!

Tonight is the start of our Canadian Thanksgiving weekend! I am excited and have lots planned. The morning didn't start out well, with one little girl insistent on wearing the same grubby sweatpants that she has worn for the last 3 days (and her Sparks t-shirt). But she went up and changed, and now it's onward and upward (I hope).
Some funny pics of my girlies from September. (I'm a bit behind. Ha)

It's my favourite season. Sadly, these are some of the only fall photos I've taken of my girls this year. It's not just about time, but that maybe I don't want a bunch of photos of my youngest in sweatpants and dirty shirts, which is current favourite attire. But they were SUPER cooperative for these photos. (It's the magic of Starbucks. ;) )

Paper People

A few weeks ago after school, the girls were creating. I much prefer the sound of clipping paper to the tv when they return home. They made these paper dolls. Zoe showed me that the belly of her guy is a computer. "This is my favourite thing ever!" she declared, hugging it. I took photos of them making their craft to preserve this little bit of joy.

Six Questions

Thanks Jill for sending me these questions and forcing me to update this sad, little blog. :P
I am a good sport though (right, right?)

1. Is this how you imagined your life would be?
It is better, for the most part, for which I feel very, very fortunate.

2. What's your drink of choice when out with girlfriends?
I don't really go out for drinks with girlfriends (basically what I'm saying is I don't drink. Ha. ha.) I just go out for dinners or lunches. But when I do have drinks, it is almost always vodka mixed with Crystal Light.

3. What hobbies do you have that you don't mention in your blog?
Sadly, many of my "hobbies" have been lost in adult life and replaced with more productive things, or what I tell myself is more productive. I do jog, which I have mentioned here, but don't really post about.

4. Name one thing about yourself that has surprised you.
Just one thing? I am surprised that I became a Photographer and discovered it is my actual DREAM job and that I love it so much. In University I hated the technical study of Photography so much that I wanted to drop out of the visual arts. Also, less than a decade ago if you told me this would be my "job," I'd have been really surprised, for sure.

5. How did your blog come about?
One year I decided to join a bunch of ladies doing a Photography project called "Project 365" where you post a photo a day for a year. I chose to do my project in blog form,
which I discovered was a fun form of photo journaling so when it was done, I tried to (somewhat) keep up with it after the year ended.

6. If money were no issue, I'd purchase...
My dream home, done exactly as I envision it. While I'd definitely be lying if I said money wasn't an issue, I am hoping to come pretty close to this "dream" home soon. So while I'd love to be financially more comfortable, I am quite happy for what we have.

And since no post is complete with out a photo, here is our newest family pic, taken by Jessica Lutz Photography. I'm *pretty* sure I'm supposed to tag people in this to keep it going, but I'm pretty sure I'm also running late. Ha. I've never been good at these games.

Another Summer

I am disappointed in my lack of blogging this summer. Blogging just became low on my list of priorities with everything else going on this summer. Hopefully someday soon I'll be able to post about some of that. ;)
These are a few photos from highlights of our summer:
My mud loving swamp creatures (who left a VERY dirty tub).
Sparklers to celebrate Zoe's 6th birthday
A couple trips to Grand Bend (I did shoots while the children enjoyed the beach with Dave)
Time with their cousins in Grandma and Bubba's pool
The kids enjoying music with their dad
We also went to the drive in for the first time ever (as a family). That was super fun. We saw Smurfs 2. I can't wait to go again. I just don't LOVE the late nights for the kids. ;)

I'm not going to lie though. I was happy to see summer come to an end and the school year begin!

Back to School Photos 2013

These are just a *few* photos from the little shoot I did last night for the girls "back to school" photos. As always, it was a real chore to get them ready and out for photos. By the time we arrived, Zoe had ripped out her braids and lost the elastics. "They fell out." Sigh. But as soon as I was done the photos, she magically forgot all about the braids and left them in all night. But I doubt she pulled them out before the shoot to intentionally aggravate me. ;) All drama and not listening aside, I was very happy with the photos. Sometimes when they start to take their own course and have fun, we end up with some of the best photos. Other times we just end up with fighting. Ha. Following the shoot, we celebrated with some Starbucks, and we had three happy campers. Dave wasn't that happy of a camper because he didn't have any Starbucks. ;) Since I had my big camera on hand, it was obviously a photo op.
