Zoe, Dave, and I went to meet our friend's baby today. Then we went to East Side Marios and I ate until I couldn't eat anymore.  Tonight there was a nice breeze, and it was the perfect evening for a jog. A nice end to our weekend.♥

One Kid Week

Reese is away at art camp this week. Sometimes it's good having just one kid around, other times not so much. Plus I miss my big girl. Dave took some photos of me and Zoe on the weekend. At first I found myself hideous in them, picking apart every flaw I was not fully aware existed. Since I so rarely have my picture taken, I found myself really self critical. But now I'm over it (mostly), and I think I kind of like the pics. I have been making an extra effort lately to dress like a lady. I have a new assortment of summer dresses and wear them almost every day. I made some new necklaces to match too. I discovered that summer dresses are very comfy and if I eat too much, there is room for expansion, unlike my usual jeans. ;)Yup, dresses are good. I am not sure how to revamp my fall wardrobe yet though.

Filled Cupcakes

Chocolate Belly Cupcakes

My new thing right now is filled cupcakes.  I call the ones in this pic "Chocolate Bellies" because they have chocolate icing inside them.  I made  this recipe   for the cupcakes, but then I made my own vanilla icing recipe because the one in the link seemed like a lot of work and the cornstarch didn't appeal to me. Then I made chocolate icing for the middle. I scooped out the centre, filled it with the chocolate, iced it with the vanilla, and voila! The vanilla cupcake recipe is quite nice and I used it as a base for some cinnamon roll bellies too. (Think cinnamon brown sugar combo mixed in with some vanilla cream cheese icing. Good stuff.) I think next I will make a S'mores version.

I was super excited to get to take some photos of my dear friend Lyndsay's sweet little baby, Imogen. Two hours later, we had some pictures!  I have a greater appreciation  for infant photography now, and surely Lyndsay does too 'cause I made her work so hard. (Thanks Lyndsay for being so super cooperative. xo). Having only photographed two babies now, I think it is still safe to say that babies don't like being naked (gasp). (But toddlers do, right? Weird.)  I have watched those tutorials about "safely" photographing newborns with their head in their hands too, but those videos always make it look a wee (lot) easier than it actually is. I made my first attempt though. So that's a start! Here are a few of the pics...

So I have no trip pictures from Darien Lake. I didn't take a single picture, but I think it was the best family vacation we've had so far. Last time we went there, Zoe was just turning one, and that's not such a fun age for a theme park. We spent a lot of time with me going on big kid rides with Reese, and Dave going on little kid rides with Zo, and that worked out pretty well (for me!) I was slightly relieved that Reese is still a bit shy of the 56 inches required for the Ride of Steel... until next year! Since we've returned, the weather has been pretty hot. Fortunately we bought a new pool though so that's helped. Some unrelated pictures from today...
