Zoe loves to dance. My job is to observe, and record A+, stars, flowers, and X's, based on my approval/disapproval of various parts of her performance. But I can't actually give her any X's because she'll get mad. They are just there, theoretically, but not to actually be used. Get it? No X's.

Here are a few pics from Reese's party. This was her first "food bank" party, and she collected over 75 canned goods (thank you friends!) She was very excited and couldn't wait to drop them off. She received a few gifts from family and a few small gifts/gift cards from friends, which was a nice surprise for her, as she had not expected that. She is looking forward to having another food bank party next year, and her cousin wants to have one too. :) It's great how it "spreads." I got the idea from friends of ours who have done it every year for their kid's parties. I am so happy that Reese embraced the idea this year.

My sweet girl turned eight years old today. After her party, I took a few pics in the backyard. She came out exactly one minute after the sun disappeared, which pretty much destroyed my vision of some sweet sun flare. But a backdrop of satellite dishes is pretty awesome too, right? (<-- sarcasm).
I was really happy with the party, and so was Reese. I think it went quite well. More on on that tomorrow.

Today I wasted away a couple of hours making Oreo pops for Reese's party. They didn't turn out as I'd envisioned, but they are still kind of pretty wrapped. As I made them semi-unsuccessfully, I told myself their imperfections were fine and that I was an artist. This year since I'm working all weekend, I thought I'd save myself the suffering involved in making a cake. So we agreed on a DQ cake, which I purchased a Groupon for. FAIL. We went to order it up, and they don't do custom cakes at that location. So now I need to go out and buy all those little decorator gel things and make the picture we'd planned on. Reese whined that her cake was ugly. And then she showed her lack or gratitude by telling me the cookie lollipops were too small. Apparently she thought I was making the Wilton pops, not the Oreo kind. $#%&. (See, I told you I don't swear. Those are just symbols.) Anyway, here is the good news. You hear all that fussing over the ugly DQ cake? That means someone appreciates my cakes! Sure it does.
So for this pic above, I thought I would try and get "fancy" with the Lightroom. The one side of Reese's face was a bit blown out by the light from the window so I thought I could "fix" that would some highlights/darkness curves. Apparently I have some reading to do...

Here are a couple quick pics from our uneventful Saint Patty's day. In other areas of our city, it was much more "eventful." ;) Our computer is annoying me. I spend minimal time with it now, as I prefer the Playbook, which definitely cuts down on my blogging time, but also, my swearing. Just kidding mom and dad. I don't swear. I need my own computer. Good night.

I had to put a hold on this post until my parents saw Reese this weekend. The kids pulled out the Pogo sticks this week and after practicing daily, on Friday Reese managed to pull off 200 consecutive jumps on the Pogo stick. I should know because I had to sit there and count. I, personally, am not so good at Pogo-ing. I can kind of, sort of, do one consecutive hop. (No, that wasn't a typo. I really mean one.) Reese went on all week about how my parent's friend, Barry, could do 100 pogo hops. So when she topped that goal, and then doubled it, she had to share the news with my dad herself. Today Reese and Barry had a pogo competition. Reese won, with a total of 260 consecutive jumps.
Reese models with her Pogo stick- because that's what pogo stars do.

Reese's fan is blowing in her room. (She is too freaked out to open her window at night because she has no screen). It is that nice out. And it's technically still winter. Canadians seem to talk about the weather a lot. I'm not sure if this happens as much in places that don't get much (or any) snow, but every winter there is an abundance of Facebook whines about the snow, and then plentiful cheers when the sun comes out. This is the nicest weather I think I've ever seen during March break so you'll be sure to find me in the cheering section. I am hoping to end off the break on a high note because the kids will be splitting the weekend with their two sets of grandparents. I will be working/sleeping, and Dave can use a few moments of downtime after two months straight of having the kids every weekend. But tomorrow we will get to have dinner together, kid free!

I am tired today. Zoe came into our room last night, sometime around one. She then woke us a total of six times, all before 4 am. (No, she was not sick). Last night made infancy feel like a breeze. Zoe woke in the night until she was over a year old, but I could just nurse her back to sleep. Four year olds are a lot more difficult to get back to bed. Other than that, our March break has been pretty good so far. We took a trip to Port Huron yesterday, which was fun, and the weather has been fabulous. I picked up my new lens (yay), and I am finally updating my blog, and my Flickr project. As soon as May hits, I hope to get back on track with my photography goals. Wish me luck.

So when I was looking up the recipe for this pin this evening, I discovered that there wasn't really a recipe, but rather a list of ingredients. I like simple recipes and I don't prefer to measure out this and that because in all honesty, I find that more elaborate meals don't always taste like all the work that went into them. So this one is simple. I used two chicken breasts and cut them each up into a few pieces. Then I mixed up some brown sugar, some garlic powder, some chili powder, and a bit of salt and pepper. I dipped each piece of chicken in them, wrapped each piece in bacon, and put them on a sprayed baking pan and baked for 30 minutes at 400, flipping once. Dave said this one is a keeper. Chicken and bacon? Of course. I think I might stuff it with some variety of cheese next time.

This week my goal for the week is to do more yoga. Today I had a chai tea latte before my yoga session, and I think that may have been a bit much because now my arm is twitching! Since having kids, I'm not really interested in attending fitness classes because the travel time, etc. cuts into too much of my free time and I like to do stuff when it works for me. So I just do yoga videos. Zoe did (part) of one with me last week. It was pretty stinkin' cute because Zoe always has to be outfitted specifically for whatever activity she's doing. I think that's half the fun for her. She looked pretty cute in her little yoga gear. I have no yoga related pictures, but hear are some unrelated pics of Reese singing (some Call Me song) yesterday.

We had a fun time taking pictures of the guinea pigs this evening. The pets don't look too comfy, but I don't think they were actually upset because there was no crying or squealing (which they do when they are seemingly uncomfortable). I bought this awesome chair, that the guinea pigs are sitting on, for Zoe's room a couple of weeks ago at the Homesense final clearance event. I love it, and the best part? The regular Homesense price was $100, but I paid $25 because two of the gem buttons had been pulled off, but I figured I can easily hot glue new gems on there for the $75 I saved. ;) It will be a cute photography prop too. Normally I'm not a fan of buying damaged goods at Homesense/Winners because the markdown is usually so small that it's not worth it, but during the final clearance event they have some sweet deals. I have been working on Zoe's big girl room for the last year and it's coming along slowly, but nicely. :)
