Sleeping Fairy

Last night I went into the girls room to peek at them while they slept. I couldn't resist grabbing the camera and taking a pic of my sweet, sleeping fairy. Since I technically took this photo shortly before midnight, I thought I should include something for today. So here is a photo wall that I'm working on.

The 70 Cent Plates

I found these plates at Homesense last week. They were on clearance for 70 cents each, and there were only two left that weren't chipped. I thought they'd be perfect for making hand prints on, and that they'd match the decor of our home quite nicely. I am glad we aren't using them for dinner plates though because I think the fact that all the others were chipped indicates that they break easily. ;) It was a good deal for me though.

Zoe is LOVING the indoor swing. Thank goodness she can pump! I think she could probably swing and watch Caillou all day long if I'd let her. How lucky that she can see the t.v. from her swing, eh? As you can see, I didn't quite get to my part on the kitchen set last night. It's otherwise done though. Well, that and one of the dials for the burners is missing. Dave isn't quite sure where he put that...
The painting hanging above the kitchen set is one that Reese made at art camp two summers ago. It is still my favourite. :)

Almost Done!

Dave is almost done the kitchen set. He hopes to complete it before the end of the day. I have to paint the flowers on the oven door still. I can probably do that tonight. The burners are loose on top, as you can see in the pic. Those will be glued down later today. Hopefully I will have pics of the finished product tomorrow. He started this project last year, but he worked on it out in the garage and it got really cold out there. I suggested he bring it inside to finish it. Since then, progress has been moving along nicely. Dave has so many projects on the go at times that I think he forgets about some of them. So I nagged him to finish this one, and the nagging really worked. ;)
I took this other picture last night.
I wanted to play around with my photography a bit. Sometimes I neglect that.

Stuff Around the House

It has been kind of a boring, blah day here. Well, not according to Reese, as her friend's mom called this morning and invited her to sleepover. Reese declared today the "best day ever." Dave has been super productive around the house this weekend. He likes to get stuff done. He has hung quite a few pictures, a swing, and a toy hammock. He's also done a check on the car, and worked on the play kitchen he is building for the children. I think I might ask him to hang my wallpaper, since he's on a roll and all. ;)

Oh yeah, and the child will not take these wings off. She's even been wearing them to bed. I wonder when this phase will end? I guess we'll see in the pics over the next few weeks.

Candy Cane Hot Chocolate

After school we had some white chocolate candy cane hot chocolate. It was yummy! (Thanks to the fellow Wundermum who recommended it to me).

Repurposing An Old Baking Sheet

I finished off Zoe's Advent calendar this week. I did hers in a different design than Reese's because I get bored of doing the same thing twice. ;) So I drew some Christmas themed designs on some and made finger print snowmen on the others. Also, for fun I put some pictures on an old baking sheet and made some magnets so I can change the pics.

Fairy Princesses Also Ride Bikes...

In pink, fluffy slippers, nonetheless.

Pink and Purple and Hairy

Zoe and I baked cupcakes today. She is really big about pink and purple these days so I made purple icing with pink flowers. We made the cupcakes together, but I decorated them because Zoe doesn't do fondant or piping yet. ;) Yes, the banana loaf we baked yesterday is already gone so it was time for something new.

Give peace a chance

Today we said goodbye to Movember. Zoe still would not accept the mustache, and Dave couldn't stand it anymore anyway. Here is Dave eating dinner on his final day with his mustache. Notice he has no shirt. He kept slopping on it.

The Fairy Princess Bakes

We were baking chocolate chip banana bread today. Zoe wore some dress up clothes instead of an apron today. She also wore some dress up clothes to bed last night. Of course that is just to amusing not to take pictures of, right?

Sock Animals

We made some sock animals today. They were going to be sock monkeys, but the children had different ideas. So here are their creations...

The Christmas Card Photo Shoot in my Makeshift "Studio"

I think all things went well, considering...
Zoe started off like this... well, this except worse (screaming and crying over wardrobe and wanting her ragged blanket in the pics). And these ornaments I hung on the wall fell. One million times. At least. (<--I don't know why my mother always said I was dramatic?) But it all worked out in the end. I didn't use my little tripod, but maybe next time. I took these in the kitchen and I wrapped up the kid's little red table as a giant present for them to sit on.

Zoe loves these slippers. She has been sleeping with them on, and wore them to preschool the other day. They were Reese's. I think I bought them on clearance for $2 so I am pretty sure we have gotten our money's worth out of those.

From this...

...to this. Staring at the antlers a little too hard.

Too bad Zoe's face wasn't sharp in this pic because this one cracks me up.

Um, this is cute, right? I call this the "cigarette candy cane."

Presents? I didn't even notice that they'd decorated themselves with these bows. Ha.

I am picking the final pics and I have just edited a couple here so I am still working on that process too before I decide on which ones to use.

Bits and Bites. Nuts and Bolts. Stuff.

Today I made bits and bites. We had little Bureks for dinner, celebrated Friday with family game night, and I bought the new PC red velvet cheesecake for no reason at all, except that I wanted it. I am sad to say it did not live up to everything I had hoped and dreamed of in this little cheesecake, and the bottom tasted kind of burnt, but it was okay. The icing was good.

Candy Canes!

I picked up some Candy Canes for the tree today. They are chewy and yummy- well, I am assuming they are supposed to be the chewy variety, otherwise, I guess I should be disturbed and not delighted. I have a cookie "stick" recipe somewhere that requires candy cane pieces...now I just have to find that recipe...

Finished!

Last night I finished Reese's Advent Calendar. I hope to finish Zoe's by the end of the week. I know these obviously aren't traditional Christmas colours, but I just wanted to make what I knew my little girlies would like best. These are made from mini muffin tins and the "doors" are made from magnets. I cut the magnets from photo protectors and glued the protector piece back on when I finished. I had fun finding things to fill them with. I am going to make some little hair clips and stuff for them too.

Oh Christmas Tree

I have heard it is the respectful thing to wait until at least after Remembrance day to decorate for Christmas. So I did. I waited until Nov. 12 and then our tree was up! I have completed a large portion of my Christmas shopping and wrapping and last night I started constructing Advent calendars for my girls. I know this is kind of ahead of the game, but trust me, time slips away from me extremely fast and sneakily so it's best that I get this stuff done with right away.

Classic Strawberry and Friends

The blown glass Care Bear ornaments are Reese's favourites

I collect Grinch ornaments (and Grinch stuff in general).
