I'll be Back...

Something is blown in the computer. Six "somethings", I think. I am working on the children's computer right now. I could still blog from here, I suppose, but then I would have to find my camera cord. There is no spot for my memory card in this tower. What's up with that, eh? I will be back in a couple days, probably. We were going to order our six little parts from Hong Kong, but that's just going to take too long!

Half Birthday

Yesterday I mentioned that Reese was now six and a half. I told her she turned six and a half on Saturday. So she wanted to have a party. After school we had a little half birthday celebration. I got this cupcake and icing recipe from Martha Stewart "Cupcakes." They were much too dense though, and the icing wasn't very good. Most of her cupcake recipes call for cake flour, which I didn't have. So I picked this one, and then regretted it. Looks like I need to take a trip to the bulk barn. So for the half birthday celebration they are having a tea party, cupcakes, watching Wizard of Oz (with popcorn), having a pretend sleepover, and if it stops raining, playing outside- all Reese's half birthday requests. :)

My Kind of Sunday

We didn't do much of anything today. I did some grocery shopping in the morning, and the kids played with their friends all afternoon. I had no idea what I wanted to take a picture of, but cute little feet are always a good choice. So when I saw the children's feet dangling from the bench beneath the playhouse, I ran inside to get the camera. When I came back out, they'd moved, of course. But my neighbour let me take some pics of her cute little baby's feet, and those are Zoe's in the middle. So I did get something, at least.

My Cute Little Mugs

We went to Toronto today for the Picture it Books launch party. I also got the chance to stop at the Hallmark Outlet sale, which was lucky for me, as it was the last day. You can't beat those deals- like 10 cent gift wrap! And we went to an athletic shoe store, mostly for Dave, but I got some cute Puma mittens, and some Nike Frees for $60! Some of you may know that I am obsessed with Nike Free, and they are my very favourite running shoe. They retail for about $140 so this was a very lucky find (which Dave pointed out to me), and we all know how I love to shop and stuff. ;) So yea. We also had a nice dinner at Kelsey's. Nice= to fairly well behaved children at dinner time. That is the second successful restaurant outing this week!
These are my cute new mugs that I bought for the children at Home Sense yesterday. Okay, it wasn't entirely for the children.
The lighting was terrible when I took these pics of Zoe and Dave this morning, but I really needed to snap them fast, and despite the less-than-ideal settings, I think they are still cute.

I have to leave for work in half an hour. I'm disorganized, as usual! Once every few months, I have to throw in a pic or two of myself. It is my blog and all. I'm not too good at this self portrait thing. I usually cut my head off. Please excuse the usual creepy close ups. ;)

I Have Nothing to Take a Picture of, but...

...I do have the time so I figured I'd better blog while I have the chance. Zoe was in full blown screaming hysterics today when she returned from preschool. It was unreal. We have only seen her that bad a couple of times. Fortunately Dave was here to get her up in her room. I haven't trimmed her nails recently, and I was fearful of a scratching, biting, attack. ;) I think all this preschool stuff is tiring her out, and now she is now napping. She napped twice over the course of the entire summer so it's really rare. I just hope she wakes up kind of civil. Yesterday she picked out this little carriage second hand. I get to carry it throughout the house, and outside for her. Also, I get to carry her collection of toys in muliple bug catchers. Today I got to transport two bug catchers, her cell phone and case, and one Halloween book. They stayed in the car during her morning programming. Thank goodness there was no fight about that!
I am trying to sit here very quietly, as I do not want to disturb Zoe. So really, it's required that I "play" and drink coffee in peace.

Today was a pretty lovely day, and we celebrated the day with "smile" cookies. Yeah, that's right- that last picture is a crumb. How exciting, eh?

A Glimpse

My husband asked me one day why I hadn't posted a picture of our new patio. I explained that I had, just not when it was finished, and that a picture of just a patio would be kind of boring. I think he may have been offended. ;) I love, love, love my new patio. I have lots of ideas about what I want to put on it, and how I'm going to decorate it. Yesterday I got a cute little fire pit for it, and hopefully soon we can roast some marshmallows over it. So here is a bit of a glimpse of the fire bowl and a small piece of my rather large patio, which I love. :)

My Big Girl

With Reese at school full days now, I hardly get to take any pictures of her anymore. So today's post is all Reese. :)
The vignette in the second pic is a bit much, but once I decided that, I was a couple steps ahead and couldn't be bothered to remove it.

It's Coming!

It's hard to believe that Halloween is less than a month and a half away. I love Halloween and had the girls' costumes ordered in August. Today we bought our first pumpkin, and some little white guys to paint. We always buy several pumpkins, but I'm going to wait until the big $2 sale to get the rest. For now I needed one for decoration. :)

Want Fries With That?

This morning I finished off a new pickle, a tomato, and a package of fries to add to the girl's play food collection. I like to make a new piece every now and then. Next, Reese would like some jelly beans.
The rest of my family has gone out to the soccer clubhouse for family day, but I am working tonight so I could not join them. Boo. On the bright side, I now have found 30 seconds to take pics and blog. :)

I'm trying to make hair accessories to match all of Zoe's fall outfits. Well, maybe not every single one, but most. This isn't the headband that goes with this particular outfit, or even how a headband should be warn (visor band, anyone?), but anyway, you get the picture. I needed to get a quick post in today.

Spidey Girl

I love pictures of kids playing in the rain. Zoe is always more than game to get on her rain gear and go outside to play. The picture taking didn't last long though because she wanted to play with her friend Sam.
So the umbrella does not look so great with the rest of her rain gear. But funny? Yeah, I kind of think the spidey umbrella is kind of funny.

I attempted to make panzerotti in my deep fryer tonight. It was possibly the greasiest thing I've ever eaten. Now I just feel sickish. This was the start to a not-so-wonderful evening. Zoe was whiny and tired. We took the children to Gymnastics class. I completely forgot I signed them up for the Tuesday session instead of Wednesday this time. Zoe cried when Dave had to pick her up and take her out of the class. They were both so disappointed. That didn't help how horrible I already felt over my foolish error. I wish I could say this is the first time I've done something like that. But it's not...

A Little Spice

Zoe and I made some cupcakes today before we picked Reese up. They are nothing fancy, just the kind from a box, and icing from a can. But when they are on for 99 cents, I figure I might as well pick some up. These cupcakes are "spice" flavoured. Perfect for Fall! The girls decorated them after school.
Zoe started a new preschool/fitness program today. When she got home, I asked her if she did any learning. Her response was, "Well, not exactly. Just a little bit of learning." Not Exactly?! Funny girl. While Zoe was away, I got reacquainted with my Dyson, who just got his new replacement part in the mail on Friday. I could definitely get used to this free time!

Some Random Pics of Zoe from Today

Zoe has already gone through three outfits today. The first one was too hot. She doesn't care for long sleeves, or pants. Then her dress dipped in the toilet. Now she is wearing a rather amusing ensemble- a dancing skirt and Jonas Brothers shirt. But the special touch is the pink slippers she had to wear. Some days I just really love 3. Okay, maybe not full days. Moments. Some moments I love three. :)

This is what happens when your subject moves out of the frame.

She's smiling because of my reaction to her phone "conversation."

In Thought

Yesterday Zoe asked if we could "do something as a family." Seriously, how could you say no to that? In the car, Reese asked about God. She told us she doesn't believe in God. She said she didn't understand why someone would be watching us from the sky. And then she added, "that's creepy and weird." Dave laughed. It was funny, but a little sad too. She's only six and I really want her to have faith. If it's not a Christian version of God, that is fine. It can be own version. And I guess that version won't be watching her from above in a "creepy and weird" way. ;)

My Girls

I was playing around with my camera at Dave's soccer game today. It's the only way I can entertain myself. I mean, no one expects me to actually watch the game, right? ;) Really I wouldn't mind watching him play, but I focus on the girls instead, and he just likes having us there so it works out. I wanted the girls to pose for me. Of course they wouldn't. They can be difficult like that, but it's okay because in all their cute little games, I still get plenty of opportunities to snap pics. I just don't usually get any of them looking at me, but that's okay. When you take as many pictures as I do, you'll eventually get a few of their faces.

Reese loves climbing this tree. I always wanted my own "climbing" tree.

She thought the tree was a good seat for the game.

My "artsy" shots for the day.

Zoe lost her band-aid and cried. She had picked one at grandma's house with a design, as she shut her thumb in the door this week. Reese made her a bed with her blanket to comfort her. Cuteness ensued.

Reese was Zoe's "mom." I got to be "auntie."
