Vacation in...

one day! We are going on holidays and we leave tomorrow morning. Okay, probably tomorrow noonish by the time we get our butts moving, but tomorrow anyway. I haven't been feeling very inspired lately and I have nothing I really want to blog about. So maybe a week long blogging break will be good. I also really need to do some photography reading so I might have to start with the basics (camera manual!) because I can't seem to get this book I've been putting on hold at the library. I have been debating about this blogging issue with myself for a while. I really wanted to continue my blog over the holidays, although I know I'd have to jump through hoops to do so, as we will not technically have internet access. But we'll see how it goes...

For now, here are a couple random pics of my children. The first pic is from yesterday, when Zoe was getting ready for her final gymnastics class. She's washing her face. I just thought it was cute.

Summer Fruit

Who doesn't love summer fruit and Ontario strawberries?...

Well, except for the half rotten kind, of course!

Zoe Pulls an Olivia

Zoe is up in her room for quiet time. This is like nap time, except she doesn't actually fall asleep. And she isn't actually quiet. There are a whole lot of excuses as to why I need to come back to her, and she yells those excuses to me from her bedroom. But before quiet time she insisted on a story. I read her Olivia. She always gets a big smile when we get to the part about Olivia painting the wall. And she talks about how naughty Olivia has been. Still smiling. Yesterday, I discovered Zoe has pulled an Olivia- in the form of pen drawings on the back of her bedroom door. I doubt she even needed the inspiration from Olivia though.
The pic is of Zoe's new, completely inpractical shoes, which she refers to as "pretty shoes." They look hilarious and she has to wear them all around the house. Please excuse the Play Dough crumbs on her chair.

My Little Rock Stars

These aren't the greatest quality photos, but I thought they were kind of funny and because I don't plan on taking any more pictures today, these will do. Reese was trying to get Zoe to do some poses (clearly). Her expression in the last one is...interesting, I think.

Father's Day

We spent a fun father's day at my parents and the kids spent plenty of time in the pool. Zoe was doing an impressive job keeping afloat with her water wings (but not so much without!) and Reese was loving the snorkeling. In this last pic, I was really trying to get both Zoe and Landyn to, at the very least, both look in my direction for a pic, but this was the best I could do before they ran off to do more enjoyable things. The thing I noticed after looking at this pic is that the thing they were both most engaged with was their own fingers. Kids!

Ponies and Treats

Sugar anyone?

"Hey, I'm waiting for a pony ride, here!"

The girls had lots and lots of sugar today. I'm surprised they even went to bed. Good times were had by all, with the exception of a failed attempt at a helicopter ride. After an hour of waiting, I finally gave up. That's all I can do for now. My parents computer keeps freezing up.

Still Thinking of a Polite Title

What I really wanted to title this post was "Laura and the Annoying, Sick Husband, " but I know that might be a little rude and insensitive. ;) I don't know what it is about husbands when they are sick and at home, but they are really bothersome. Even when they are just sitting there. Or maybe especially when they are just sitting there? Sure, there are probably some sweet and sympathetic wives out there, but I am not one of them.
Reese was supposed to go on a year end trip to the park today, but she had a headache in the early morning so she stayed home. I couldn't bear to sit home, clean the house and cater to the children while Dave lay in bed. So instead I took the girls for a long walk to our closest mall, library and Tim Horton's. I brought my camera along because the girls always look cute running up and down this hill.

Craft Time

Some little boxes the girls (and a friend) decorated

Zoe making father's day cards

I am making little fridge magnets with these. I glued scrapbooking paper on the back of them. I just need to buy some thin magnet sheets.

Flower Picking

I let Zoe pick a couple flowers from my garden so I could get some pics...

She is peeking around the pillar at me. I liked this pic because even though you can't see her smile, you can see it in her eye.

I am glad I have this blog because I wouldn't be taking pictures every day otherwise, and I get a lot of fun and unexpected shots this way. Even if it's time consuming sometimes, I know I will be thankful later, when my little girls are grown.

When I took these photos just before lunch today, I wasn't too sure about them. The lighting was all over the place, and Zoe kept moving from the porch to the garden, which made making quick adjustments to my camera settings difficult. I was just hoping I'd have one or two that I liked. I am an artsy fartsy type though (or so I've been called in the past. ;) ) So I don't mind the effect of an overexposed photo sometimes, and sometimes I prefer it that way. These pictures turned out way better than I'd expected and I was actually happy with more of them than I could share in one post. So I think I was pretty lucky! I was also very lucky to find this dress today (that I thought I'd lost). I found it this morning hiding in Zoe's closet. So I'm thinking maybe I have too much stuff in there. Well, that didn't stop me from heading to the big sale at Gymboree today and filling a couple bags...oops. ;)

Tea Party

The girls had a tea party in the basement this morning.

Zoe and I made a trip to the mall today to pick up some $2 sunglasses and flip flops from the Children's Place. You could say these are essential items for our upcoming trip. Here are a few shots of Zoe wearing her new sunglasses.

She's a cool kid. Clearly.
