2010 in Photos

I made this collage today. I realized my photos are horribly disorganized. There were some I wanted to add, but just couldn't find. But anyway, these are a few pics from the year. Naturally I forget to save the collage at high quality. I will be back tomorrow, as I have to make this post quick. It's time to celebrate the New Year with my hubby!

Veggie UN-Love

I pulled out some pepper for dinner. It was no good. So I had to go with another plan, but it was a cute little heart shape so it worked well for my otherwise picture-less and entirely long, seemingly endless, day. The children are now in bed. Happy "ah."

The 80's. Life in a Box.

I brought these goods home from my parent's house with me yesterday. I still don't know why anyone thought slides were a good idea, but now I am left with the task of converting them (at a pitiful resolution) with my new slide/negative converter. Well, actually I haven't touched it yet, but Dave did a couple for me...

This photo is apparently from a birthday party of my brother... I think there was a weird (creepy) clown theme. I am second from the right.

My brother and Me, and some good ol' classic Play Doh

Me and Polkaroo. Don't I look enthused?

Catching Up?

I feel like whenever I don't post for a couple days that I will never have time to even look at all my pics, let alone pick some to post. I still have not looked at all our pictures from our summer holidays. It really does get overwhelming. But, I must move on so I do...
When we left for our Christmas holidays, we stopped at our mailbox, and to my excitement, my new extension tubes for my camera had arrived. So naturally I had to play around with that for quite a bit, and I may even have annoyed a few people by taking pictures of their eyeballs (mother?)
Here are a couple pics of the cute little tea set that my brother and sister in law bought the girls...and of course an eye ball pic.

This is my mom's eye, a photo taken with my $7 extension tube set. For the price difference, I will pass on a macro lens for now!

These crayons were also photographed with the extension tubes

Happy Holidays

I bet you were all expecting a holiday themed photo, being almost Christmas, right? So I had to pick something different. This is a pic of the new shirt Zoe is wearing today. I love it. I found it at the Gap, and I had never seen one like this there before. It was the last one in the store, and in a size 3T- that's a sign, right?
I am taking off for a few days I may pop by to say hi, otherwise, have a safe and happy holiday!

One More Day...

Tomorrow is our family Christmas. That's right, Santa comes one day early at our house. We have this tradition because it works best for us, as we go to see family over the holidays. Santa doesn't mind the request because it is a lot of work to fly all around the world in one night. So a few stops the day before means less stops for Santa on Christmas eve. It's thoughtful of us, don't you think? ;) This week of Christmas light bokeh has actually taught me a lot. It's been fun!

Christmas Light Heart Bokeh

Reese calls this teddy bear "Fudgey Bear." His name used to be Hayden (after the singer), back when he was my bear.

Crafting from Empty Gift Wrap Rolls

We had a busy day today, with lots of crafting and playing with friends. So far, the Christmas holidays are off to a good start, probably the best I could expect, really.
I emptied three rolls of gift wrap last night. So I saved those tubes for today, and we made a castle out of them.
We also made Christmas ornaments, and in the evening, we decorated Grinch aprons- a special treat I picked up for the girls at the big Michaels sale this weekend. Zoe's attention span was quite limited by that point, and I had to finish (almost all) of hers for her.

Christmas Vacation, Day One!

I was really feeling the festive today. We started working on some holiday gifts, made holiday cookies, listened to holiday music, and hung this holiday banner. This is the first official day of Christmas vacation, and I hope the rest of the week is as fun as this day was. (Hey Jess, do you like how your Ipod made it's way into this pic?

I get this sort of stunned look from Zoe by trying to catch her attention and get her to look up...It worked, but yeah, sort of stunned...

I thought this pic was cute because you can see that intense look of concentration on Zoe's face as she works on a craft. (I love those sweet lips!)

Dave brought home this rockin' gumball machine from his parent's this weekend. It was his when he was a boy. It is really awesome, and totally worthy of a place in our living room, or rec room. It's the kind on a big stand. The kids had a blast with it tonight.

Christmas Collage (not my kids this time!)

This morning I was lucky enough to get to take some Christmas pics of some kiddos other than my own. I love taking pictures of other children and sometimes they are more cooperative than my own, which is a nice change! Little S was the absolute perfect model and she is just beyond cute. I also love how her sweet sister is so inquisitive and how her brother has these incredibly charming eyes. I know sitting for pictures is boring so I am thankful they were willing to sit for a few pics for me.
The first collage is a higher resolution than the second so I needed to add two so I could do a comparison. I am completely annoyed with myself right now because I just realized yesterday that I have been saving almost all of my collages at the lower resolution, as that is the default.

Playing With Christmas Lights, Part 2

This house is starting to look a bit more festive. We still have to pull out a few more Christmas decorations though. I guess we're all about leaving things until the last minute! We do have our outdoor lights up though...well, some of them. Given the snow, we decided on a condensed version. The girls and Dave just headed out the door on their way to Oma's house tonight ('cause I'm working tonight and tomorrow, I'm not coming). Santa visits our house a day early- so it's less than a week 'til his arrival!

Playing With Christmas Lights, Part 1

This was inevitable. One week before Christmas, and it's definitely time to do some more light play. I bought this strand today at Dollarama, but I'm going to need a few more, I think. If this guy looks familiar then maybe you had this lovely McDonald's edition from back in the 80's too. Remember when McDonald's used to sell stuffed animals? The one I really, really wanted was the Fozzie bear.

Yes, It's More About My Children

The cost of "beauty?" Fighting over this crown with your sister and poking holes in your head with the prongs (ouch, and she didn't even notice, even though it was bleeding a bit!)
I love this cute little hat. :) It was Reese's, and now it's Zoe's. :) (P.S. Thanks for buying this hat Grandma.)

Reese stayed home from school today because she had a headache/sore throat this morning. Here is an adorable cat she is drawing, while using my old "How to Draw Animals" book. She said to me, "Mommy, do you think I'm an artist?" Um, yeah, of course! I am all for modesty, but when it comes to your kids, you should build them up as much as you can.

Forest of Bees

The school buses weren't running today. We have had more snow. It is piled halfway up our fence in the backyard. You can see how high up it is on the deck in this pic, but Dave has cleared a pathway at the front for the kids to walk through, which is why it isn't as deep at the front of the pic. Basically what I'm saying is, it really is crazy. P.S. This pic is for you, Lynds. ;)
Reese likes to come up with picture ideas for us both to draw. She decided we would draw a forest with bees and some forest creatures. She likes to look over at mine as we draw to inspire her. It's cute watching her replicate it and add her own little details.

Hair Cuttin' Time

Check out this mop, in obvious and desperate need of a haircut (and a two-day-overdue brushing). Both my girls were in need of a little haircut. So I got to Zoe while she watched t.v. (much too closely) and I may get to Reese after school, if we don't bake muffins, that is.

International Goodness (and Fun News for my Blog Readers!)

I have become addicted to choosing different international snack foods (and treats) for Reese's school lunches. Variety is the spice of life and all. Here are a few of the ones I picked up yesterday. The tomato sticks are good. They are similar to Pringles Stix. I haven't tried the others yet. Reese has had the Hello Panda cookies in chocolate, and she liked those. These ones are strawberry. They are really darling looking- each one has a picture on it and they have filling inside. Fun, eh?
And my exciting news! I have been asked to do a review and giveaway for Lovable Labels, a Canadian company that makes a wide variety of labels I currently use their slimline labels on everything and they are really good. I even put they on shirt tags and they hold up through the wash. I will tell you what products are in the giveaway later...stay tuned! I am excited to be doing a giveway. Be sure to enter! :)

They had this beautiful little Christmas tree set up at the wedding yesterday. I loved taking pics of it because it was so sparkly. P.S. This isn't my pic of the day, but I will have to add that to tomorrow's post because I have to go to work soon and I won't have time to wait for it to upload.

Today I got to photograph a wedding, along with my partner in crime, Jessica. It was fun, and I think we shall do some more.

Jessica took this photo of me and Reese this morning. Clearly it was morning because I have that just-rolled-out-of-bed look. And I'm even brave enough to post it on the internet. Yup.

Some Finger Painting for my Kitchen Table

Just 20 days left to go in my "365" project, and today I felt like getting creative. I finger painted this Christmas tree on my kitchen table, which was a surefire way to ensure that the table would get washed. And of course some happy editing was required.

Red Berries

I put on my boots and vests, hopped over my front porch, and took these pics of my neighbour's garden, like a trooper. The usual large jump down wasn't much of a jump at all now though, as the snow is almost level with our porch. Pretty crazy accumulation, but the city is back to "normal" now, as schools are open again and the buses are running. It's been a busy day and I thought there probably aren't too many potential subjects that are as pretty as little red berries in the snow. So here they are.

So I'm Thinking...

All these days cooped up in the house is actually making me a little crazy. I feel like a really need a trip to the mall or something! I might head out on Friday...
Reese did some Christmas Tree pics tonight. Most of hers involved some interesting expressions. Apparently hamming it up for the camera is fun. I liked this one best though.

I didn't care for the processing in this pic, but then I couldn't change it back. So be it, I really just wanted to add it in because I think it's kind of funny. I think this was some mid air Wii action. Reese and I both have "Wii arm" right now. I have given up on trying to get Zoe to wear particular outfits, and now that she's kinda dressing weather appropriate, I don't really care and I've been pretty amused. She's been adding legwarmers on top on her tights and I think that's pretty cute. This is toned down. Sometimes it's a dress AND a skirt.

Here I Attempted Some Christmas Tree Photos...

Today was our third snow day. Dave got to stay home all day today too. He and the kids spent much time outside. When Zoe came in, I decided I would like to get some pictures of her in front of the tree. As usual, she was a less than cooperative subject. But I keep trying, and we always get a few funnies. ;)

Doritos tongue. Yum.

Doritos tongue, AND a Santa beard she made out of a wet wash cloth (ew).

Okay, I think we're done.
